Since its inception, NotComing.com has been a decidedly simplified publication. Most every element in its page design – which has evolved incrementally over the course of at least four full iterations – is subordinate to the body text on any given page. Simply put, there’s been lots to read, but perhaps not enough to look at.
This will continue to be the case for as long as our publication remains online. However, film is an expressly visual medium; in acknowledgement of this we introduce a permanent supplement to our website, entitled Stills. The concept is simple: a large, random still from a random film, each morning.
You’ll find Stills to be a contrast to NotComing.com – literally, its page design is a monochromatic inversion of what you’re reading right now – but it is motivated by precisely the same spirit: to draw attention toward older, often unpopular, and sometimes unknown films that merit a second look. Despite its similarities in design and intent, Stills will not only be curated by the staff of NotComing.com, but also by anyone who visits.
We are very excited, after months of work, to pull the curtains back on this site enhancement. Please have a look around, and share a still of your own:
