Eraserhead / USA / 1977

Per David Lynch’s request (or so the box office manager stated), Eraserhead was shown at the Brattle on projected DVD. This is befitting given Lynch’s particular instructions for the exhibition of his films (such as in this instructional flyer given to projectionists for Mulholland Drive), and the audio and image quality of the DVD is superior to any previous incarnation of the film, perhaps even the prints that have circulated in midnight showings for over twenty years. This is one of my favorite films, and I’ve yet to see it on film.

    Just this evening, I saw a subway performer playing the Lady in the Radiator song.

    Neat.

    At Austin City Limits this year the Pixies played the lady in the radiator song. I thought it was awesome.
