Strongly acted and solidly made—a model biopic—but ultimately no more than the sum of its parts.

I agree there were some fantastic performances, but I mostly found the movie to be dull and prudish (quite an accomplishment, considering its subject matter). Rather than meaningfully explore the country’s sexual mores during the 1940’s, Bill Condon instead delivers scene after scene where we are essentially set up to laugh at the sexual naivete of our forebears. Although Kinsey ostensibly celebrates the good doctor’s radical methods, the film ends on a curious note, with an endorsement of marriage and fidelity.
