Blue Denim / USA / 1959

This astonishingly dated take on teen pregnancy, abortion, and poor communication between parents and their kids, is an unintentional laugh riot, offering line after line of idiotic dialogue from the mouths of painfully one-dimensional characters. From the sappy emotions of the beleaguered couple, to the closed-mindedness of the boy’s military father, to the pathetic insipidity of his mother, every aspect of Blue Denim is so obviously geared to bolster the film’s cautionary, anti-pre-marital-sex narrative, that it is impossible to relate to it in any way other than mirthful mockery.

Arthur, the main character, very strangely believes that after getting a cut on his finger he should hold it up to let the blood flow back into his heart.

Personally, I think this particular moment says a lot about this movie.
