The Truman Show / USA / 1998

Jim Carrey is Truman Burbank, a man whose life has been televised, without his knowledge, from the moment of his birth. One day Truman begins to question the validity of his surroundings and embarks on a determined quest to understand the truth. A fun and somewhat terrifying concept in the age of reality television overload, The Truman Show gave Carrey his first substantial non-comedic role, and he turns in an effective, if at times melodramatic, performance.
