As a horror film Claire Denis’ Trouble Every Day is among the most visceral I have seen in some time. Herein eroticism is equated frankly with harm; as a couple engages in sex their fleshes are abstracted in close-up, and the viewer is to dread the gruesome violence that will disfigure and kill one of them. The tragic score, produced by Tindersticks, is at least recommended to those who remain affronted by the film’s gruesome descriptions.

This has got to be one of the silliest movies I’ve ever seen. It’s like a Herzog remake of a Stuart Gordon film. Or vice-versa.
Great score, though.
