Screening Log
This new site feature is a collective effort to summarize our viewing habits. Occasionally, you will find titles here that are coming to a theater near you, in addition to films viewed on television, and even films viewed in piecemeal. The screening log is archived each month; to view past entries select a month in the menu below.

The Holy Girl / La Niña Santa / Argentina / Italy / Netherlands / Spain / 2004
As I expected, Lucrecia Martel has successfully managed to avoid the sophomore slump. Her technique here is similar to that in La Ciénaga (artfully composed frames, strange sounds whirring in the distance, nature and the outdoors shown in an ominous light, etc.), but the themes explored are subtler and arguably richer.
