When I first saw this film, I thought it amusingly creepy, but largely arbitrary and pointless. Now, I think it’s just about the best American film of the last ten years. Boy, I love to be wrong.

David Lynch will do that to you. I was not a fan of Fire Walk With Me or Lost Highway when I first saw them; now I think they are extraordinary. It took me years before I begrudgingly accepted the brilliance of Blue Velvet; now I cannot imagine American cinema without it.
Wild at Heart, on the other hand… there’s been no change there. I hate that movie with a pure hot white screaming hatred that burns like a thousand suns.
I’ll admit that Wild at Heart is no Mulholland Dr., but I think it’s a hell of a lot of fun.
it’s so compelling how chilling Mulholland Dr. is when you watch it.
I’ve seen a couple Lynch films and they always leave me dumbfounded. Is there any good reading you can suggest for after viewing Blue Velvet, as I imagine I’ll have a ton of questions. Thanks in advance.
Perhaps this may help.
