The Blackguard / The Princess and the Violinist / UK/Germany / 1925
Graham Cutts’ 1925 film is mostly notable for the contributions of a young man named Alfred Hitchcock who served as the film’s screenwriter, art director, and assistant director. Supposedly, Hitchcock also directed certain sequences when his employer was on or recovering from the occasional Berlin bender, and the principal fun of the film is to try to spot the more famous filmmaker’s contributions.
