Elizabethtown / USA / 2005
Not nearly as bad as the reports from Toronto would have you believe. I’ve never thought much of Cameron Crowe as a filmmaker, but he has an undeniable talent for crafting memorable characters, and there are a lot of warm, funny moments to be found here. I’m reluctant to say much more, as the movie is still being trimmed for general release, but it overall struck me as no better or worse that Jerry Maguire or Almost Famous. (N.B. If you could not stand either of those films, stay far, far away from this one.)
