I always meant to rent this movie as a kid, but for some reason I never did. Today, it plays like a sincere version of a Beastie Boys music video. The effects are cheapo, the sets are entirely white and red, and the characters are ridiculous (especially the cowboy based equally on Colonel Tom Parker and Boss Hogg), but it might still bring your inner-eleven year old out to play. It certainly did mine.

Wow. I vividly remember reading about this movie in Starlog magazine as a young lad, but never got around to seeing it. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve even seen it for rent anywhere.
It might just be the right time for a double-feature of this and Leviathan.
I saw this movie when I was about 11 or 12 and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I used to spend hours trying to build replicas of the robots out of legos but never finished because I never had the right parts to make them :) Alexander’s robots were totally sweet. Anyone who has seen this movie will have fond memories of Alexander’s 4 legged, chainsaw penised, jackhammer armed machinery. Its not great cinema, but it is fun to watch.
I remember nagging my dad to hire this film from our local video rental shop. I’d pick it up everytime we went the shop; and nearly always be told that “Mum might not like it”. Then, months later, my lucky break came when I was off school with Chicken Pox and my dad asked if i want a film from the shop…… There was only one film i wanted and I loved every minute of it. I seem to rember a follow up film, can’t remember the name.
Mental note… do not buy this film on amazon…… ebay it is then…
