Champagne / UK / 1928
This seems like a mere studio exercise for Hitchcock — or a bid to launch Betty Balfour somewhere into the Clara Bow constellation — but nonetheless it’s an entertaining film with some interesting elements. Thin on plot and psychology though it may be, one can see an earlier incarnation of the frivolous American heiress that will later turn up in To Catch a Thief and The Birds.
And again, these French DVD’s look really, really nice. Here’s a taste.
