Dude, Where’s My Car? / USA / 2000

The title of this film succinctly spells its lack of pretensions, rendering any further description of what it’s about unnecessary. I watched, and I laughed, so whatever criticism I should have for this film is moot as it has succeeded in meeting its infinitesimally basic goal. But there is merit in Dude’s decided lack of ambition—keep in mind this trait characterizes the entire stoner genre. Although I may have anticipated dismissing this film, to admit I enjoyed it without any accompanying substance is perhaps the best thing I can say about it, and something I can say for no Cheech & Chong movie.
