The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek / U.S.A. / 1944

I have no idea what a “zipperpuss” is, but I do know it’s funny when coupled with a father making a death-threat to his daughter. Considering I’m not the biggest fan of the film’s central couple, I really have to give credit to Preston Sturges for making such a charming little comedy by poking fun at so many American institutions. Even if I probably wouldn’t be willing to accept such pratfalls in a contemporary comedy, I can always appreciate Sturges long takes and sense of space. Plus, I think I now have a little crush going on Diana Lynn, who seems to be the type of sensible young brunette that provided the inspiration for characters like Rory Gilmore.
