Hearts of Darkness / A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse / USA / 1991

Oddly enough, the documentary that’s supposed to make me sympathize with Coppola (the footage was shot by his wife) made me dislike him even more.

I’m unaware as to your feelings on Coppola (I respect the hell out of him just for the sacrifices he’s made in the name of his craft, but I can certainly dig on any non-fans), but this reaction only makes me want to see this film more. A pity it wasn’t included on the Complete Dossier edition of Apocalypse Now, but who knows what the reasons were with ownership politics. A friend of mine took a cinema course solely because they’d be watching this doc as part of the syllabus.
