Who’s Camus Anyway? / The Bored Murderer / Japan / 2005

This is a slowing paced, episodic, coming-of-age drama involving Japanese film students who make Albert Camus’ The Stranger into a film. It has the feel of tragedy and is strangely compelling despite all the crosscutting among the ensemble, who all do a fairly good job at portraying… well, themselves. And who are they? Why, young (and young-at-heart) dreamers, of course! Who else would invest this much time and passion into a movie?
