Imitation of Life / USA / 1959

Love it, love it, love it. Lana’s icy rise to stardom, her Ken doll (a.k.a Steve), and the tortured relationship between beatific Annie and her malicious daughter, Sarah Jane. I keep Kleenex handy for the final scenes, regardless of how many times I’ve watched it. This is a very belated posting, but I should note it’s also my antidote to football – Sirk Sunday.
