There are things you do hate, Lord. Perfume-smellin’ things, lacy things, things with curly hair.
An analogy: Have you ever found a few hundred dollars and decided to spruce up your car with rims and lights and fins, only to realize afterwards that you have four flat tires? Francis Lawrence’s car looks very goodÑmajestic, digitally-rendered shots of a barren, weed-overrun New York CityÑuntil we get inside and find a roving band of CGI zombie-vampires. As a vehicle for Will Smith, I Am Legend is perfect: He’s allowed to be alone, to wrestle with inner demons, and make that final, heroic sacrifice. As an opportunity to use computer graphics in lieu of real people, I Am Legend is terrible. It’s pure entertainment wanting to be something more seriousÑa ridiculously nice car with that can’t go anywhere.

I hated the ending of this movie. The book’s ending was far better with Dr. Neville becoming a legend to the Night Seekers. I think if they would have stuck to the book a bit more, this movie would really be something. Oh, and the CGI was disgusting for it’s time.
I forgot to mention this above, but I’m a very big fan of Sidney Salkow’s 1964 version with Vincent Price, as reviewed here by Thomas.
I knew this movie was going to be good but I am still puzzled by the New England move. Where did they get the idea to locate the solution in VT? I am so lost.
Awful movie. Forget comparing it to the book; this movie is dog vomit all by itself.
