When I watched this, one of our most iconic and beloved B-movies, as a child, I averted my eyes at a particularly horrific moment. This was uncharacteristic of me even then, and in the years since, I’ve wondered a little about what I’d missed. Turns out that at that very moment of horror, the one that I turned away from all those years ago, there is a discreet shot of leading lady Patricia Owens averting her own eyes, and nothing more.
I should have known.
